When it comes to parking, the city is full of it.
There are some spots to be found in Mumbai, but they are few and far between, says a resident of a residential neighbourhood in north Mumbai.
The issue of parking is not new.
Last year, the Indian government mandated the city to install at least 20 million parking spaces by 2020.
But it didn’t go as far as installing more than 20 million spaces in the last decade.
The new proposal will see the city install 20 million new spaces by 2019.
While the total number of spaces installed is yet to be decided, experts believe the city will be able to accommodate up to 20 million residents, according to a statement by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
MMRDA also wants to increase the number of parking spaces available in the metro area by about 3 lakh per day.
