What if you have to play with your partner?
The answer to that question is pretty simple: You can’t.
The official NHL 2k17 website has been updated to remove the option to play alongside your partner.
The reason for the change?
“In the NHL 2.0 release, we added a new feature that allows players to share their stats with other players.
When using this feature, you can share your stats with a friend in-game or through the game’s social features,” the NHL website reads.
“This is a feature that has been removed from the official website, and will be coming back in the future.”
While the NHL’s official site hasn’t changed its policy regarding partner play in the game, many players who have played with their partner in the past are reporting a similar change to the official NHL app.
Players who used to play as their partner will be unable to do so.
The NHL’s Facebook page has posted a statement about the change.
“As part of the ongoing effort to improve our game, we have removed the option for players to play together in-client with their teammates,” the post reads.
The NFL has also made similar changes to its social features.
The league’s Facebook post also notes that the update is rolling out in phases.
The change is likely the result of the popularity of the game and the growth of the online social game.
For now, the NHL app remains in the official game, but the league has plans to change the app’s social experience in the near future.
